USPOULTRY Releases Lockout/Tagout Video and Other Resources

USPOULTRY has released a new video and poster that demonstrates the proper steps for completing Lockout/Tagout on equipment or machinery. The visuals illustrate basic concepts with few words, this helps member companies train staff even while communication challenges may exist. The material was developed by USPOULTRY with input and review by the Joint Industry Safety and Health Council.

Locking out machinery and equipment prior to servicing or maintenance is an essential element of protecting employees from unexpected energization or motion, the startup of machine or equipment, or release of stored energy. Violations of the Occupational Safety & Health Administration's (OSHA) Lockout/Tagout Standards consistently fall within one of OSHA's top 10 most frequently cited standards across all industries. To avoid accidents and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, it is essential to follow the proper steps of conducting Lockout/Tagout. The poultry industry has made great progress in reducing the number of workplace injuries. Tools such as these will be helpful in ensuring proper employee training which less injuries.

Register Now for the 2018 IPPE

The International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE) is a global feed, meat and poultry industry trade show held annually in Atlanta, Ga. The upcoming expo is scheduled Tuesday through Thursday, Jan. 30 - Feb. 1, 2018, at the Georgia World Congress Center. The expo is expecting to attract more than 30,000 attendees through the collaboration of the three trade shows - International Poultry Expo, International Feed Expo and International Meat Expo - representing the entire chain of protein and feed production and processing. The event is sponsored by U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY), the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) and the North American Meat Institute (NAMI).

USPOULTRY members that are engaged in the production of poultry, eggs and meat for consumption and feed and pet food manufacturers can take advantage of the popular "Members to Atlanta" (M2A) program that waives the registration fee for IPPE. The program is supported through the sponsorship of elite IPPE exhibitors. They include Arm & Hammer, Aviagen, Biomin, Ceva Animal Health, Cobb-Vantress, Diamond V, Elanco Animal Health, Heat and Control, Huvepharma, Incubation Systems, Inc., Jamesway Incubator Co., Kemin, Soybean Meal Information Center, Watt Global Media and Zoetis. Those qualifying for M2A must register before Dec. 31 to take advantage of the promotion.
